Reprieve came the way of the South East Regional Manager of Afribank Nigeria Plc, Enugu, Mr. Uba Anichebe, as the police rescued him from suspected kidnappers after spending four days in captivity.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the rescue of the banker, yesterday said the victim was freed following a raid on the kidnappers’ hideout at Amodu Awkunanaw in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

The new executives for Union Bank are Mr. Adekunle M. Adeosun, Ibrahim Abubakar Kwargana, Philip Ikeazor and Ade Shonubi.
NSE suspends trading in five banks’ shares – The Guardian

Another blow was dealt the five embattled banks as the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), yesterday, placed full suspension on their shares for two weeks. The action of the capital market regulator came three days after the chief executive officers of the banks were sacked last Friday by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for exposing the outfits to bad debts.

Afribank Staff Charity Fund has responded to the save-a-soul appeal for the little Miss Ifeoluwa Adeyemi, the seven-year-old girl receiving treatment for kidney related problem at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos. The Staff Charity Fund presented cheque valued =N=.250Million to Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi, father of Ifeoluwa at the Hospital yesterday.
