The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) yesterday in Abuja accused the PDP-led federal government of obtaining $500m loans mostly to prosecute the forthcoming 2011 general elections.
The party said that the loan facility is a means of returning Nigeria back to the era of indebtedness and condemned National Assembly, also controlled by the PDP, for approving the loan facility.

On Monday all the 30 council Chairmen in Osun State lost the bid to keep their jobs as the Appeal Court in Ibadan dismissed the motion for a stay of execution of the judgment delivered on March 19.
The Osun State Independent National Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) conducted election in the councils on December 14, 2007, which was boycotted by the Action Congress (AC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), National Conscience Party (NCP), and other parties, citing non-compliance with the law.

The Ogun State Election Petitions Tribunal yesterday upheld the declaration of Gbenga Daniel of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the April 14, 2007 governorship election in Ogun State.
His opponent, Senator Ibikunle Amosun of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), had challenged the declaration of Daniel by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the polls.
