On Monday all the 30 council Chairmen in Osun State lost the bid to keep their jobs as the Appeal Court in Ibadan dismissed the motion for a stay of execution of the judgment delivered on March 19.
The Osun State Independent National Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) conducted election in the councils on December 14, 2007, which was boycotted by the Action Congress (AC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), National Conscience Party (NCP), and other parties, citing non-compliance with the law.

The re-trial of the petition of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola of the Action Congress (AC) against the election of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), started on Thursday, as the AC lead counsel, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, accusing the judges of not being fair to his client.
