The Edo State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Peter Imasuen, was yesterday abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
Bishop Imasuen, who is also the Bishop of the Benin Diocese of the Anglican Communion, was said to have been abducted in front of his official residence ‘Bishop Court’ at Iyaro in Benin City at about 12:30pm while returning from service.

Niger State government has named Commissioner for Youths and Strategy, Mr. Timothy Jiya, as leader of delegation to this year’s Christian pilgrimage to Israel.
Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Munya Local Government Area Chairman, Mr. A. Garba, has also been appointed deputy leader of the state’s delegation for the year’s Christian pilgrimage.

Christians in the northern parts of the country are protesting refusal by some northern state governors to sponsor them to holy land for the pilgrimage, saying they are being discriminated against.
Based on this, some state chapters of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have petitioned the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) on the development, calling for intervention.
