The Court of Appeal, Abuja will January 26, decide whether or not former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo would contest the scheduled February 6, 2010 gubernatorial election in Anambra state on the platform of the rulling PDP.

Protest yesterday trailed the withdrawal of the Joint Task Force (JTF) from Edo State ahead of a fresh election ordered into the state House of Assembly by the Court of Appeal next Saturday.
Civil society groups, students and traders took to the streets to protest the withdrawal of members of the armed forces from the state’s joint police and military security outfit, “Operation Thunderstorm,” alleging that their removal was to enable politicians to bring arms and ammunition into Etsako Central Local Council where the fresh election will take place.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja Division yesterday upheld the expulsion of former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, from the party.
Okorie had challenged the decision of an Abuja High Court which affirmed his expulsion from APGA for alleged anti-party activities. Read more

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Lagos, yesterday fixed hearing in the post-conviction bail motion brought by the jailed former Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) Chairman Bode George for December 1.
George’s motion will be taken along with those filed by his fellow convicts-Aminu Dabo, Olatunji Adeboye, Abdullahi Tafida, Zanna Maideribe and Sule Aliyu.

Jailed former Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) chairman Bode George and five others yesterday lost their battle for bail.
Mr Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, held that there was no sufficient evidence to grant the request of George and the others.
