There are indications that convicted Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Bode George and five other members of the board of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, which he led, will spend the weekend in jail, despite Justice Joseph Oyewole’s readiness to hear their motion for bail pending the appeal.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has summoned debtors of non-performing loans to the five banks that recently failed the stress test of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, told the Nigerian Tribune, on Sunday, that recovery exercise begins today.

Nigeria yesterday said it would not hand over any of its nationals for trial overseas.
Apparently referring to Britain’s request for former Delta State Governor James Ibori for trial in London, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Michael Aondoakaa (SAN) said the request was an indictment of the country’s security and legal system.
