Strong indications emerged on Sunday that the former Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Mr. Erastus Akingbola, may have admitted that he owns the N346bn and £11m in six Nigerian banks earlier frozen by a Federal High Court in Lagos on December 31.

Governor of the Central Bank, CBN, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, has vowed that there will be no respite for banks on corporate governance, insisting that this will help rid the industry of criminals.
Meantime, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will, today, file a 20-count charge against the former Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Mr Erastus Akingbola, in a Federal High Court in Lagos, with a view to extraditing him from Britain.

The sacked managing directors of Bank PHB and Spring Bank, Messrs Francis Atuche and Charles Enaholo Ojo will be arraigned today before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The Nation learnt yesterday that they would be arraigned on a 26-count charge filed earlier this week by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will today get the date for the trial of 16 bank executives and 68 debtors in its custody, it was learnt yesterday.
The commission also yesterday declared Mrs. Nananshettu Bedell (a one-time nanny to one of the children of Mrs. Cecilia Ibru) and an Abuja businessman, Mr. Dele Oye, wanted.

Sacked Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank Mr. Erastus Akingbola yesterday got a court permission to apply for the judicial review of his removal by the Central Bank of Nigeria last week.
The permission was granted by the Federal High Court in Lagos, following an application by Akingbola against the apex bank and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), challenging his sack as chief executive of Intercontinental Bank. He is also seeking for N50 billion as damages.
