There were strong indications yesterday that President Umaru Yar’Adua is adamant on the new eight-year tenure for Permanent Secretaries and Directors in the Federal Civil Service.
But the controversy over tenure appointment heightened yesterday as those who may be affected by the policy alleged that the Head of Service, Mr. Steve Oronsaye, did not follow due process.

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua yesterday appro-ved the appointment of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Steve Oronsanye, as the new Head of Service of the Federation.
He will succeed Ms Ama Inyingiala Pepple who retires on Monday. Pepple is retiring after clocking 60 years, the mandatory age for retirement.
