Just as the State Security Service (SSS) has swung into action, probing the activities of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the recently ended U-17 World Cup in Nigeria, world football’s governing body, FIFA’s partner, Hyundai, has tracked down some of the 74 cars it supplied for the competition, which allegedly were shared and driven away by some officials of government.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said that the Federal Government would probe the finances of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA Under-17 tournament to ensure that all funds spent during the hosting of the football event are in accordance with the extant rules and regulations guiding such expenditure.

Less than 72 hours to the end of the ongoing Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Africa Independent Television (AIT), which was awarded the broadcast rights by FIFA, is being owed about N3.5 billion by the main Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the competition.
