The Presidency yesterday confirmed that President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who is undergoing medical treatment in a Saudi Arabian hospital, is suffering from acute pericarditis. This is an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the heart, which can restrict normal beating of the heart.

The phenomenon of revenue loss by Nigeria to leakages keeps turning curiouser and curiouser with fresh revelations of volume and modalities. The latest, as made public yesterday, indicated at least N800 billion outside government’s purse. The revelation was by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, ‘Dimeji Bankole, who disclosed that a whopping sum of between N800 billion and N1 trillion was not remitted to the Federal Government treasury by ministries, departments and agencies in the last five years.
