State governors should be held accountable for any break down of order in their states because some of them do not read the security reports that are regularly sent to their desks, Niger State Governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu said in Abuja yesterday. Speaking at the Trust Annual Dialogue, he said governors should ensure they read security reports to enable them act proactively to forestall communal crisis. “We should not wait until we start counting corpses before we act,” he said.

Six additional ports are to be built by the Federal Government along the lower River Niger in the Niger Delta region.
They are to be built at the completion of the dredging of the River Niger, according to the 42nd session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which yesterday approved contracts for the construction of the Inland Port and ancillary facilities at Baro, Niger State, at a total cost of N3.56 billion.

Tragedy struck in Minna when a landlord, Mallam Isah Safo of Ikangbe area, Kpakungu, Minna metropolis on Wednesday beat his tenant of three years, John James Enwerem to death over N3, 000 house rent.
The late Enwerem was said to have slumped and died when the landlord hit him on the chest while trying to rescue his (Enwerems’) wife as she was being pummeled and held to the ground by the landlord.
