Ekiti State Government has banned the closure of roads for ceremonies in the state.
Making this known in a statement, yesterday, the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the State Executive Council took the decision at its meeting, during the week, based on the fact that blockage of roads for festivities and rallies, as well as obstruction of highways by agents of commercial drivers’ associations had become rampant.

A mobile policeman, Corporal Muyiwa Tunde Abolarin, who allegedly killed a staff of Akure South Local Government, Dayo Adeola, was yesterday charged before an Akure magistrate court for murder. Abolarin was charged after he was summarily dismissed by police authorities on Saturday.

Suspected kidnapper killed in Kano – Daily Trust

A taxi driver suspected of kidnapping was yesterday killed along the Bayero University Kano road in Kano metropolis. Some commercial motorcyclists had raised alarm that he kidnapped three children.
The suspected kidnapper who was identified as Umar Marau-Marau, was forced to stop at Kofar Nai’sa by the motorcyclists, he alighted from his cab and started fighting them, but when he noticed that the motorcyclists could overpower him, he rushed into his cab and zoomed off. The motorcyclists chased him and started shouting that he was a kidnapper.

According to the NJC, the suspension of the judge was as a result of his conduct which it said involved street fighting.

The police in Lagos yesterday paraded three suspects who they believed were killers of Bayo Ohu, former Assistant Political Editor of The Guardian. The suspects were brought exclusively before reporters of The Guardian and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Others were shut out, but were handed a press statement.
