The phenomenon of revenue loss by Nigeria to leakages keeps turning curiouser and curiouser with fresh revelations of volume and modalities. The latest, as made public yesterday, indicated at least N800 billion outside government’s purse. The revelation was by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, ‘Dimeji Bankole, who disclosed that a whopping sum of between N800 billion and N1 trillion was not remitted to the Federal Government treasury by ministries, departments and agencies in the last five years.

As in previous occasions, violence and irregularities marred elections in parts of Ekiti and Oyo States yesterday.
The rerun elections into the Ekiti North Senatorial District and the two vacant seats of Oorelope and Lagelu constituencies in the Oyo State House of Assembly were ordered by the Courts of Appeal in Benin City and Ibadan respectively.
