The Court of Appeal in Abuja yesterday struck out the petition filed by the Presidential Candidate of Hope Democratic Party (HDP) in the 2007 elections, Chief Ambrose Owuru challenging the election of President Umaru Musa Yar’adua. The petitioner in his statement of claim asked the court to hold that Yar’adua’s election was fraught with irregularities and did not follow the provisions of Electoral Act 2006.

The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has urged President Umaru Musa Yar’adua to strengthen the nation’s anti-corruption war and ensure that indicted persons are prosecuted promptly.
