President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua yesterday urged the 2009 Senators’ Retreat in Enugu to be focused on the issue of getting Nigeria’s electoral system right.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, yesterday listed five challenges that the nation must overcome if the 2011 general elections must be successful.
Speaking when he hosted senior journalists and when he received a delegation of senior executive course particiapants of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Abuja, Iwu listed the absence of internal democracy among the country’s political parties as one of the five major challenges ahead of the 2011 general elections.
