There were indications on Friday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may have severed its relations with the London Metropolitan Police.
In fact, the latter has said it no longer has a working relationship with Nigeria’s EFCC. It now deals directly with the office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.
This is coming on the heels of scathing criticism of the EFCC by the visiting United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who urged the anti-graft body to wake up to its responsibilities of fighting corruption.
The two agencies had enjoyed a robust working relationship during the days of Nuhu Ribadu, the sacked chairman of the EFCC.
