The University of Ado-Ekiti has dismissed over 500 students of the institution over alleged illegal transfers from one faculty to another.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dipo Kolawole disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday when he appeared before the State House of Assembly’s Committee on Public Petition and Education, to defend the petition filed against the university’s management by the affected students.

Justice Mufutau Olokooba of an Ikeja High Court on Wednesday sentenced a banker, Mr. Hillary Amakor, to nine months imprisonment for his involvement in a N600m fraud.

Amakor, a banker with FinBank Plc at its Oke-Afa/Isolo Branch, Lagos pleaded ‘guilty’ to the six-count charge of conspiracy, falsification of account and stealing, which were levelled against him by the anti-graft agency.

The decision was sequel to the struggle for supremacy between members of the Peoples Democratic Party and Action Congress after the impeachment of the Speaker of the House, Mr. Zakawanu Garuba.
