Govt okays N179.13b for projects in N’Delta, others – The Guardian

As part of the post amnesty programme, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved N179.13 billion for the execution of 44 projects in nine states in the Niger Delta region.
And contrary to a recent report that the United Nations (UN) will not be part of the amnesty deal for Niger Delta militants, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) yesterday, in a statement, said the global body was involved in the peace process initiated by the Federal Government.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) yesterday released its yearly Human Development Index (HDI), with Nigeria ranked 158.
Gabon, Congo, Kenya and Sudan are ahead of Nigeria.
Norway took the first position.
Senate plans retreat on constitution review – The Guardian

The Senate announced yesterday that it would begin the process of amending the 1999 Constitution with a retreat in Kaduna, the Kaduna State capital, next month. Indeed, the reviewed constitution may be used for the 2011 general elections.
