As part of the post amnesty programme, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved N179.13 billion for the execution of 44 projects in nine states in the Niger Delta region.
And contrary to a recent report that the United Nations (UN) will not be part of the amnesty deal for Niger Delta militants, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) yesterday, in a statement, said the global body was involved in the peace process initiated by the Federal Government.

Political parties have urged the United Nations (UN) to increase its involvement in election monitoring to check irregularities associated with voting worldwide.
At a meeting which was attended by representatives of 33 political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday in Abuja, the parties said it would be easier for the UN to check electoral irregularities if it would have its own personnel as party agents during polls and vote collating processes.
