Business FG empowers 15 families

In a bid to empower less privileged families and ensure self-reliance, the Federal Government has distributed the sum of N2.8m to 15 families, which include an abandoned mother of quadruplet, a lady with breast cancer, a mother of triplet and a young man with broken spinal cord etc.

According to the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Zainab Maina, the selection of beneficiaries, which was done without any form of ethnic bias, will enable Nigeria’s benefit from the dividend of democracy

“My Ministry has the responsibilities for and takes great pride in providing the needed and focused leadership in the area of capacity building and strengthening the family institution to perform its statutory function of bringing up dutiful and responsible members.”

“Today’s activity is therefore in line with Mr. President’s Transformation Agenda as it seeks to address poverty and social exclusion by providing opportunities for families in distress to integrate into the economic life of their communities.

“The ministry is rendering financial assistance to about 15 families today cutting across the ethnic divide of the nation to enable them to be on their feet once more having gone through periods of hardships and incapacitation,” she said.


The minister urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds to o better their lives.

The Director of Social Welfare of the Ministry, Dr. Kwassau Maijama’s said the beneficiaries were selected based on ‘first come first serve’ to kick off the first phase of the programme.
