Business FG to expand power transmission facilities with $1.6billion

Professor Chinedu Nebo, the Minister of Power stated the investment in the power sector would dwarf the investment recorded in the telecommunication sector once the on-going reforms in the sector is completed.

After a meeting of the Presidential Action Committee on Power, Professor Nebo said that the government has accessed loans to the tune of $1.6Billion from a number of international agencies to fund the expansion of transmission infrastructure.

According to the minister, “We have substantial amount of funding coming in form of loans from the World Bank, African Development Bank, Euro Bond Issue and Chinese Exim Bank and NDPHC had already designated $1.6 billion for the expansion of Transmission facilities in the country.

I believe we are heading in the right direction with this power issue. Sadly, as I say this, I have been out of power supply for over 2 days.
