Despite being 46 points behind championship leader,Sebastian Vettel,Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso,believes that the championship is still open and not yet won.
Vettel on Sunday stretched his lead on the table,comfortably winning the Belgian Grand Prix,with Alonso coming in second and Lewis Hamilton placing third.
With eight races more to the end of the season,there is a maximum 200 points available and Alonso thinks that he can claw his way back to the top.
“We recovered some of the optimism we lost,” said Ferrari driver Alonso after finishing second to Vettel at Spa.
“It was a good weekend in terms of feeling and points.”
“It is still open,” said Alonso. “We just need to keep trying to improve our performance and try to turn it around.”
The double Formula One champion started from ninth position on the grid,and had an astonishing race to finish on Sunday.
