Keke Senior High School wins Etisalat FCB U-17 competition

Keke Senior High School,in Lagos last weekend became the first school to win the inaugural edition of the Etisalat FCB Under-17 School Cup.
In a totally one-sided final at the Campos Mini-Stadium, Lagos Island,Keke School completely dominated proceedings and mauled Anthony Village Senior High School 4-0 to cart home the trophy.
For their efforts in emerging champions,the Ijaiye based school equally won the star prize of : N1million educational award, a smartphone for each of the players and also an all-expense paid trip to the United Arab Emirates.
The team during their sojourn in the UAE,will get to play a friendly game with the football team of a local school in Abu Dhabi.
First runner-up, Anthony Village Senior High School got N750,000 and mobile phones for each of the players.
Meanwhile in the third place match,Akande Dahunsi Senior Memorial High School, defeated Magbo Alade Senior Grammar School, Ibeju Lekki 3-1 after penalty shoot-outs,to finish third in the competition and got N500,000 as well as other Etisalat-branded items.
“Sixteen secondary schools began with us at the Preliminaries on August 1. All the schools were selected by the Lagos State Ministry of Education and the Lagos State Football Association. The Etisalat FCB U-17 School Cup is our own way of providing another opportunity for young football lovers to express their passion for the game and be rewarded for it, just as we are doing with the ongoing FC Barcelona Promo. We hope these young players will keep their passion for the game and remember these experiences,” said Charles Ogunwuyi,Director of Retail Sales, Etisalat Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Seyi Akinwumi,lauded the initiative adding that :“We have nothing but pride in being part of this Etisalat initiative. The idea is to fuse football with education and so, Lagos State has a synergy with what the telecommunications company is doing for the young ones. We are proud that the children in this first tournament and others to come, will have the memories for the rest of their lives, or may even someday become players of FC Barcelona or other big clubs,” he said.
Artistes like May D, Olamide, Sean Tizzle and Dammy Krane all spiced up the occasion,thrilling the fans that thronged put for the finale.
