Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has banned officers of the Nigerian police force from illegal accessing of mobile phones of citizens, acoording to a circular released on Monday.
The IGP mandated the police officers to protect right of private and families. He also urged members of the public to contact @PoliceNG_CRU should any officer illegally search their phones.
Officers of the Nigerian police force in recent times have reportedly been engaging in illegal searching of citizens’ mobile phones despite properly identifying themselves.
Police officers within the Lagos and Ogun state border towns in Ojodu, Ogba, Iju Alagbole, Akute and environs are especially known to be guilty of this act.
