Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Nasarawa State Governor allegedly spent N1.5 billion on his son’s wedding in the United States.

Official activities in Nasarawa state were paralyzed throughout the week following the absence of top government functionaries from their offices as they were said to have flown abroad for the wedding.

The state government has repeatedly denied the allegations of the whooping sum allegedly used for the occasion, sources have continued to shield more light on the controversial event, which stakeholders insist was sponsored with state funds.

According to Guardian news, an official of the Peoples democratic party PDP in the state who decried what he described as the wanton waste of resources, wondered why the plight of the masses is no longer a priority of the leaders of this country.

“Of course we are going to present our case before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) so as to put a stop to this kind of madness”, the anonymous PDP source added.

Illiasu Yakubu, the governor’s director of press has accused the opposition of trying to blackmail the governor , “you can go to the code of conduct bureau and find out how much the governor declared before his assumption of office” he said, adding that “those spreading the rumour are doing so to score some cheap political points”
