A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a businessman, Mahmood Mohammed, 32, in prison custody for alleged rape of minor.
Mohammed, who resides at No 14a, Hayan Banki, Kawo, in Kaduna, committed the offence on Feb.4.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) read by the Prosecutor, Insp. Sani Umar, the accused lured his victim and used his finger to open her private part before penetrating with his penis.
Umar said the General Hospital Kawo had confirmed the incident and produced the result of the rape investigation.
He said the offence contravened Section 282 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State 1991. The charge was read to the accused but no plea was taken.
Chief Magistrate Bashir Shittu told the accused that he was only brought before him for cognizance. Shitu said that his court had no jurisdiction to try the case and adjourned the case till May 19, for further mention.
