An undergraduate from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka campus, reportedly lost sanity around 3 a.m. on Tuesday while engaged in a marathon reading session since resumption of academic activities.
According Daily Independent, the student was reported to be studying overnight at the Akintunde Ojo 24-hours library of the university when he suddenly became irrational in his behaviour and was quickly rushed to the clinic for medical attention.
Attributing the development to pressure following resumption after the five-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that paralysed learning activities in public universities nationwide, an eye witness said the development unsettled many students.
The incidence which was confirmed by the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Professor Olukayode Amund, has led to students clamoring for an extension of the examination date by one week.
