President Bola Tinubu addressed South-East stakeholders in Enugu, defending his policies, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, as necessary for nation-building and safeguarding future generations. The President emphasized his commitment to creating a Nigeria that every citizen can be proud of, despite his administration challenges and criticism.

During his first official visit to Enugu on Saturday, January 4, 2024, Tinubu inaugurated several projects initiated by Governor Peter Mbah. These included 30 smart green schools, 60 type 2 primary health centres, and significant road infrastructure projects like the 19-kilometer Airport-New Haven–Bisalla and Okpara Square roads.

Tinubu acknowledged that leading the nation requires tough decisions and unwavering dedication. He emphasized the importance of building a sustainable economy, urging Nigerians to adopt a forward-thinking mindset rather than jeopardizing the future for short-term gains.

“You cannot spend the future of unborn generations in advance. Don’t bankrupt the nation before they are born,” Tinubu stated. He expressed pride in Nigeria, calling for unity and a collective effort to reshape the country's narrative positively.

The President also noted that criticism and opposition were inevitable but reaffirmed his determination to lead with confidence and assemble a capable team to drive progress. Highlighting the shared identity of all Nigerians, Tinubu urged citizens to support his administration’s vision for a better, united nation.
