Florence Nwaeke, wife of ex-Rivers Head of Service George Nwaeke, has raised alarm over her husband’s mysterious disappearance following his resignation. She claims he may be in danger and was forced into making allegations against Governor Fubara. Meanwhile, the governor denies the accusations, insisting Nwaeke was compromised.
The political unrest in Rivers State has taken a dramatic turn as Florence Nwaeke, wife of former Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has raised alarm over her husband's sudden disappearance following his resignation. Expressing deep concern, she pleaded with Nigerians to help locate him, fearing that he might be in danger.
Speaking to journalists, Florence recounted her last conversation with her husband. She mentioned that he had informed her of his safe arrival in Abuja, but shortly after, she began receiving unexpected messages and seeing reports online about an interview he allegedly granted. She expressed disbelief, insisting that the person speaking in the interview did not seem like her husband.
In distress, she attempted to reach him, sending multiple messages asking if he was under duress or had been kidnapped. However, all her efforts proved futile as his phone became unreachable. Fighting back tears, she called on Nigerians to intervene, stating, "My husband is in trouble! Nigerians, help me!"
Her plea came after George Nwaeke’s explosive interview in which he made several allegations against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Among other claims, he accused the governor of planning to back Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for the 2027 presidential election and allegedly encouraging militants to attack oil facilities.
Governor Fubara has since dismissed these allegations, insisting that Nwaeke had been compromised. He released what he claimed were chat screenshots between Nwaeke and his Chief of Staff, Ederson Ehie, suggesting that the former HoS had been seeking financial support in exchange for his loyalty.
