The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the results of the Edo State gubernatorial election, declaring Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner. The announcement took place on Sunday, led by Prof. Faruq Adamu Kuta, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, at a press conference in Benin City.
Okpebholo received an impressive 291,667 votes, winning in 11 out of 18 local government areas (LGAs) in the state. His closest competitor, Ighodalo from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 247,274 votes, while Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) came in third with 22,763 votes.
