Nigeria's 10th House of Representatives has set a new record, passing an unprecedented 243 bills in just 12 months, surpassing the achievements of previous assemblies.

The 10th House of Representatives has etched its name in Nigeria's legislative history by setting an unprecedented record for the highest number of bills passed in a single legislative session. Since its inauguration on June 13, 2023, the House has received an impressive 1,188 bills, 679 motions, and around 300 petitions.

This remarkable feat surpasses the achievements of previous Houses, with the 2023–2024 legislative year witnessing a staggering 1,188 bills, compared to just 14 in 1999–2000 and 853 in 2019–2020. Of the bills received, 243 (20.1%) have been passed, with 82 (7.0%) reaching the third and final reading stage.

The passed bills cover a wide range of areas, including good governance, national security, law reform, economic development, social sector reform, inclusive and open parliament, foreign policy influence, and environmental sustainability. Notable bills signed into law by President Bola Tinubu include the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (Amendment) Bill, Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Federal Audit Service Bill.

Additionally, the House has addressed pressing national issues through the passage of over 500 motions, demonstrating its commitment to tackling critical challenges facing the country.
