Nigerian artists dominated the 2025 Trace Awards in Zanzibar, with Rema, Mercy Chinwo, D’banj, and Ayra Starr winning top categories. Nigerian artists took center stage at the 2025 Trace Awards, with Rema, Mercy Chinwo, D’banj, and Ayra Starr securing major wins at the prestigious event held at Mora Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Rema emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, clinching ‘Album of the Year’ for Heis and earning the title of ‘Best Male Artist.’ Ayra Starr further cemented her status as a leading figure in West African music, winning ‘Best West African Artist.’

Gospel powerhouse Mercy Chinwo was recognized as ‘Best Gospel Artist,’ honoring her impactful and soulful contributions to the genre. Meanwhile, Afrobeats veteran D’banj received the esteemed ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his lasting influence on the music industry.

Other Nigerian stars celebrated on the night included P.Priime, who took home ‘Best Producer’ for his work on MMS, and Meji Alabi, who won ‘Best Music Video’ for directing Rema’s DND.

The event also honored top talent from across Africa, with artists like South Africa’s Titom & Yuppe, Ivory Coast’s Tamsir & Team Paiya, and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz receiving accolades in various categories.
