Candidates for the 2025 UTME in Lagos faced long delays at the Perfect Angel CBT Centre due to technical issues. Many spent hours waiting as the registration process, originally scheduled for January, was postponed to February 5. The delay was caused by the system's restriction to iPhone scanners.
Candidates hoping to sit for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Lagos faced significant delays on Monday, with some spending up to six hours at the Perfect Angel Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre in Abule Egba. The delay followed the postponement of the registration period, which was originally scheduled to begin on January 31 but was shifted to February 5, with the deadline set for March 5.
Despite arriving early, many candidates, including Success Enonfu and her twin sister, were unable to complete their registration due to technical issues. Enonfu expressed frustration, revealing that they had filled out their forms and waited for hours but were eventually told to return the following day. She shared that this was their third attempt at registering for the UTME.
Other candidates like Favour Adenle and Emmanuel Owobu voiced their displeasure over the lengthy process. Adenle was unaware of the registration postponement and had visited the centre on Friday, only to be turned away. Owobu, who had previously failed to meet the cut-off marks, was disappointed with the delays but was encouraged by his parents to try again.
The manager of the CBT centre, Olaoluwa Adefamoye, explained that the registration system’s reliance on iPhone scanners was causing the delays. He called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to expand the system’s compatibility to include scanners from other devices to improve efficiency.
