Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has confirmed ongoing discussions about potentially running as Peter Obi’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

In a recent video, Kwankwaso, who ran as NNPP’s presidential candidate in 2023, highlighted his political and educational qualifications, suggesting he holds greater experience compared to Obi. He expressed willingness to serve as Obi's deputy, provided specific conditions and mutual trust were established. Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of aligning on shared goals before moving forward with any partnership.

He also criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for allegedly favoring opposition APC members in Kano State by directing rice palliative distribution through them instead of the state government. He urged Tinubu to take immediate action, claiming such moves undermine democratic principles.
