President Bola Tinubu has called on APC leaders in Oyo State to unite ahead of the 2027 elections, urging them to reclaim the state from opposition control. Addressing the gathering through Minister Adebayo Adelabu, Tinubu emphasized the importance of Oyo in APC's strategic regional vision for progress and unity.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently urged APC leaders in Oyo State to strengthen their efforts in reclaiming the state from opposition control during the 2027 elections. Speaking through Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu at the inaugural Lam Adesina annual lecture in Ibadan, Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stressing that Oyo should align with other "progressive" states to support APC’s broader regional goals.
Tinubu highlighted Oyo’s strategic importance to APC’s influence in southwestern Nigeria, calling on party leaders to honor former Governor Lam Adesina’s legacy of democracy and unity. He urged party members to "fight the fight" and secure victory in 2027 to restore Oyo to APC governance.
The event drew high-profile attendees, including former Governors Adeniyi Adebayo and Kayode Fayemi, alongside Oyo APC Chairman Alhaji Olayide Abas and traditional leaders like the Olubadan of Ibadanland, reinforcing the call’s significance. Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, represented by Senator Shuaib Salisu, emphasized the need to uphold Nigeria’s value system and rebuild trust in governance.
Oyo APC’s push comes after losing to the PDP in both 2019 and 2023, with Governor Seyi Makinde currently holding office. Tinubu’s rallying call reflects a renewed commitment to unity, aiming to inspire stakeholders across the APC as they prepare for a crucial 2027 electoral battle.
