Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, citing his leadership as pivotal for national stability and progress. The group, led by Deputy President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, also urged Tinubu to facilitate the release of Nnamdi Kanu by 2025, viewing it as a step toward restoring peace in the Southeast.
The organization emphasized the need for expedited rehabilitation of Southeastern infrastructure under Senator Dave Umahi, stressing its importance for economic growth. Ohanaeze also called for fair representation in the upcoming 2025 Census, advocating for accurate ethnic and religious demographics to strengthen the Igbo voice in national matters.
Additionally, the group proposed the creation of Anioma and Aba states to enhance regional governance and representation. They highlighted the importance of revitalizing the Eastern Economic Corridor, suggesting projects like reopening the Calabar Seaport, reviving the Enugu Coal Mine and upgrading railways to boost economic connectivity.
Ohanaeze defended the rotational presidency agreement, stating that Tinubu’s continued leadership aligns with fairness, following eight years of Northern presidency under Muhammadu Buhari. The group criticized opposition politicians, expressing skepticism about their ability to challenge Tinubu effectively.
Urging unity among Igbos, Ohanaeze cautioned against divisive political alliances, advocating for a collective focus on regional development. The endorsement reflects a commitment to stability, security, and infrastructural progress, aiming for a brighter future for the Southeast.
