The Digest:

Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has alleged that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are in "panic mode" ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking to supporters in Port Harcourt, the ADC chieftain accused the ruling party of attempting to intimidate voters, saying their actions betray fear rather than confidence. "I thought the President said they were popular... All these things that they are doing are panic measures; they are scared. If you're not scared, let us meet on the field, let the people chose who they want to choose," Amaechi said. He argued the APC wants voter apathy because if people vote, they won't vote APC. Challenging the government to show achievements, he asked: "Let this government show one thing they have done, either in the North or in the South, apart from stealing money." Amaechi listed his own transportation ministry achievements under Buhari and said ADC's countermeasure to intimidation will be grassroots mobilization.

Key Points
  • Amaechi says Tinubu, APC in "panic mode" ahead of 2027.

  • Challenges the government to show any achievement "apart from stealing money."
  • ADC will rely on grassroots mobilization as a countermeasure.
Rotimi Amaechi throws down the gauntlet: if APC is so popular, let them face Nigerians in a free and fair contest, but their "panic measures" suggest they know what the people would say.
