NELFUND disbursed N280 million in interest-free loans to 3,000 students in Nasarawa State. The initiative, in collaboration with the Nasarawa Human Capital Development Agency, aims to support students in accessing quality education. Over 12,000 students applied for the loan, with 3,000 successfully verified and receiving funds.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed N280 million in interest-free loans to 3,000 tertiary students in Nasarawa State.

The loans aim to alleviate the financial challenges faced by underprivileged students in accessing quality education.

This initiative, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Agency, was announced during a cheque presentation in Lafia, the state capital.

NELFUND's Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, revealed that the funds were allocated after verifying 3,000 out of 12,000 applicants.

The loans are part of a larger effort to support education nationwide, with 275,000 students applying across the country. Sawyerr emphasized the importance of transparency in the loan process and urged more students to take advantage of this opportunity.

Nasarawa’s Acting Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akabe, expressed gratitude to NELFUND for this support and encouraged beneficiaries to make the most of the initiative.

The Director General of the state's Human Capital Development Agency, Habiba Suleiman, praised the initiative as a vital step in improving education access in Nasarawa and nationwide.
