NEMA, in collaboration with international and national agencies, successfully repatriated 392 stranded Nigerians from Niger Republic to Kano on December 23, 2024. The returnees, including men, women, and children, were profiled and provided support as part of ongoing efforts to assist displaced citizens and ensure their safe reintegration.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with key partners, successfully repatriated 392 stranded Nigerians from Niger Republic. The returnees were received at the Immigration Training School on Airport Road, Kano, on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 3:05 PM.

According to a statement from NEMA, the group included 176 adult males, 122 adult females, and 94 children—78 boys and 16 girls. Upon arrival, the returnees underwent profiling and registration to ensure proper documentation and access to necessary aid.

The repatriation effort was supported by various organizations, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Nigerian Immigration Services, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

This marks the second batch of returnees brought back under the initiative to assist Nigerians stranded abroad. The effort highlights the commitment of NEMA and its partners to addressing the challenges faced by displaced citizens and ensuring their safe return.

The successful operation underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in managing migration issues and providing humanitarian assistance.
