Professor Maikudi, an expert in international law, was nominated during a valedictory senate meeting at the university's main campus. The outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah, emphasized that her appointment is temporary, pending ratification by the university's governing council.
Born in 1983, Professor Maikudi is recognized as the youngest female professor of law in Northwestern Nigeria and at UniAbuja. Her academic journey includes degrees from prestigious institutions such as the University of Reading and the London School of Economics & Political Science. She completed her PhD in International Law at UniAbuja in 2015.
Professor Maikudi's career at UniAbuja began in 2008 as a Lecturer II. She rapidly ascended the academic ranks, achieving full professorship in 2022. Her leadership roles include serving as the first female deputy dean of the law faculty and as the pioneer director of the University of Abuja International Centre.
With a rich background in research and international academic exposure, Professor Maikudi has participated in numerous global conferences and published extensively on United Nations Law. She is also an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Federation of Women Lawyers.
