Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's revelation that 80% of Igbo people's wealth is connected to Bola Tinubu's legacy in Lagos stirs discussions as he joins the All Progressives Congress (APC). Explore the impact of his statement and its significance for Igbo politics
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South, has made a noteworthy claim, stating that approximately 80% of the Igbo community derives their wealth from the legacy of President Bola Tinubu's governance in Lagos State. Tinubu led Lagos from 1999 to 2007, transforming it into Nigeria's commercial hub.
Ubah made these remarks during his official induction into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja. He expressed that Igbos have historically had difficulties aligning with national political parties due to sentiments and emotions. However, he emphasized that President Tinubu is a capable politician who understands and can console the populace.
Ubah's decision to join the APC was motivated by his desire for the southeast region to align with Tinubu's administration. He also commended the appointment of Engr. Dave Umahi as the Minister of Works, marking a significant development for the region.
Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the APC, expressed confidence that Ubah's defection would enable the party to gain influence in other southeastern states. He described Ubah as a "swing politician" and anticipated a political shift in the region, specifically in the three states not yet affiliated with the APC.
