Yusuf remains committed to addressing grievances peacefully and will meet protesters at the Government House.

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed significant frustration over what he describes as the Kano Police Command’s refusal to comply with his directives. Speaking during a stakeholders' meeting at the Africa House, Government House, Kano, on Wednesday, Yusuf criticized the police for their apparent lack of cooperation.

“I am deeply frustrated as the Executive Governor and Chief Security Officer of this state,” Yusuf stated. “The police are the only security operatives who do not follow my orders, claiming they receive instructions from higher authorities. This situation is both unfortunate and unacceptable.”

Yusuf's comments highlight a growing tension between the state government and the local police force. He stressed that while other security agencies work harmoniously with his administration, the police's insubordination undermines his role in maintaining order and security in Kano.

In addition to his grievances about the police, Yusuf revealed concerns about potential disruptions linked to upcoming nationwide protests. He alleged that some disgruntled opposition politicians are plotting to hijack these protests to incite violence and create chaos in Kano. According to Yusuf, these individuals plan to disguise themselves as members of the Kwankwasiyya movement to carry out acts of vandalism and looting.

Despite these challenges, Yusuf emphasized his commitment to peacefully handling the protests. He invited protesters to present their grievances directly at the Government House, ensuring their demands would be forwarded to the Federal Government.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sunusi II, echoed Yusuf's call for peaceful conduct but warned of the risks posed by potential hijackers seeking to exploit the unrest for their purposes.
