The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended a notorious kidnapper, Bello Mohammed, 28, implicated in the abduction and subsequent murder of Nabeeha, a young lady from Bwari, Abuja. The arrest, made on January 20, 2024, in Tafa Area, Kaduna, was a result of intelligence gathered by the Divisional Police Officer, Tafa Division. Bello was found in possession of ₦2.25 million, suspected to be ransom proceeds collected from kidnapping victims in the region.
According to the police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, Bello confessed to being part of the gang responsible for abducting the family of Barrister Ariyo in Bwari on January 2, 2024. Tragically, Nabeeha, the daughter of the legal practitioner, was killed on January 13, 2024, at a kidnappers' camp in Kaduna State. During interrogation, Bello attempted to offer ₦1 million to induce the Divisional Police Officer, who rejected the bribe, demonstrating commendable professionalism.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered that Bello be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations. The suspect, who also disclosed the involvement of five neutralized bandits in Kaduna, is cooperating with the police in their efforts to unravel all culprits responsible for these heinous acts. The IGP commended the dedication and professionalism displayed by DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, affirming the police's commitment to ensuring a safer society for all Nigerians.
