In a significant development following the launch of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, law enforcement authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have arrested 16 notorious criminals.
Among the paraded suspects were three kidnappers based in Bwari—Idris Ishaku, Bala Umar, and Dahiru Salisu—linked to a series of armed robberies and kidnappings in the Bwari Local Government Area and other parts of Abuja.
The police, through technical intelligence, foiled another kidnapping plot and recovered arms from the apprehended individuals. The arrests come in the wake of public outrage over the abduction of six siblings and their father in Bwari, resulting in the tragic death of one of the sisters, Nabeehah.
The statement by Force Spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi outlines additional successes, including the interception of a kidnapping operation, the arrest of a notorious gunrunner negotiating with bandits, and the recovery of illicit firearms and ammunition.
The proactive measures by the police underscore their commitment to tackling criminal activities in the region.
