The Abure-led Labour Party faction has warned Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti against actions deemed harmful to party unity. Accusing Otti of anti-party activities and plotting a defection, the LP leadership vowed to impose stiff penalties to protect the party’s integrity ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Labour Party faction under Julius Abure’s leadership has issued a strong warning to Peter Obi, the party's 2023 presidential candidate, and Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, over actions deemed harmful to party unity. Following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the faction urged Obi to refrain from activities that could destabilize the party, threatening disciplinary measures if necessary.
The faction also criticized Otti for allegedly holding unauthorized meetings, overseeing local elections using another political platform, and attempting to splinter party leadership. According to them, Otti is laying the groundwork to defect ahead of the 2027 elections. The Abure-led leadership vowed to resist any moves threatening the party’s stability, warning that any factional attempts would be firmly countered to preserve the Labour Party's structure.
