A tragic family dispute in Adamawa State ended in bloodshed when a butcher, Monday Murya, allegedly stabbed his elder brother, Friday Murya, to death over a disagreement involving N200 worth of meat. The incident occurred on March 9, 2025, in the Waltadi community, located in the Dunme State Development Area of Song Local Government.
According to eyewitness accounts, the conflict started when Friday took meat without paying, prompting Monday to demand his money. Tensions escalated, leading to a physical confrontation. In the heat of the fight, Monday reportedly used a knife to stab his brother fatally.
Another sibling, Sinairu, who attempted to intervene, was also stabbed by the suspect and is currently receiving medical treatment at Dumne Cottage Hospital.
Following the attack, Friday was rushed to Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital in Yola, but he succumbed to his injuries. Local authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, with Monday now in police custody.
