He directed them to avoid secretariats to prevent clashes with unauthorized occupants. Adeleke praised voters, assured governance reforms, and thanked President Tinubu for preventing instability in the state.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially sworn in the newly elected local government chairpersons and councillors following the recent elections where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won across all 30 LGAs and 332 wards.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Adeleke expressed satisfaction that the elections were conducted despite various challenges. He congratulated the officials and urged them to focus on delivering good governance in line with the PDP’s agenda.
However, the governor instructed them to stay away from local government secretariats to prevent clashes with individuals who, according to him, had unlawfully taken control of those offices with police assistance. Adeleke assured that legal action would be taken to remove them.
Reflecting on the election process, he emphasized that the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) adhered to due process, leading to the emergence of the new council leadership. He also noted that a state high court had previously confirmed the vacancies in local government offices before the elections.
Adeleke commended Osun residents for their participation in the electoral process and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to public welfare. He also thanked security agencies for maintaining peace and praised President Bola Tinubu for preventing attempts to destabilize the state.
The event was attended by key political figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who also serves as the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
