The nominees for the prestigious honor include Simon Adingra, Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, and Ronwen Williams. Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, will aim to succeed Victor Osimhen, his Nigerian teammate, who won the award in 2023.
Lookman earned his place in the final five after an impressive year. He netted three goals and assisted in seven matches for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire. Additionally, he made history by scoring a hat-trick in Atalanta's UEFA Europa League final. This season, the 27-year-old has continued his strong form, registering 11 goals and five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta.
The CAF Awards ceremony is set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, next Monday, where the winner will be announced. Lookman’s stellar performances for club and country have made him a deserving contender for this coveted individual honor.
