Two Super Eagles players, defender Victor Collins of Nasarawa United and midfielder Alhassan Yusuf from New England Revolution, arrived in Abidjan on Monday to kick off Nigeria’s training camp for the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic. Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, recently returned from medical leave in Belgium, joined his coaching staff in preparing for the upcoming match, set for Thursday.

Collins, the only home-based player in the 23-man squad, received his first national team call-up, enhancing the team’s defensive options. The remaining Super Eagles players are expected to join by Monday, with training starting on Tuesday.

Nigeria leads Group D with ten points and needs only a draw against Benin to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. After the match, the team will return to Nigeria to host Rwanda in their final qualifier in Uyo on November 18 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
