Ajiboye Omodewu, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has passed away in the United States. Omodewu, who had traveled abroad in November 2023 for medical treatment, succumbed to an undisclosed illness.

His death was confirmed by Olawale Sadare, the Oyo APC publicity secretary. Omodewu had a notable political career, serving as the commissioner of lands, housing, survey, and urban development under former Oyo State governor Abiola Ajimobi. He was elected as the APC chairman in Oyo State in 2021.

Born on April 16, 1963, in Otu, Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Omodewu was well-educated, holding an A-level certificate in accounting from Yaba College of Technology and a B.Sc in accounting from the City University of New York. His passing marks a significant loss for the Oyo APC and the state's political landscape.
